IT Disaster Recovery Principles
A recovery time objective (RTO) refers to the maximum length of time that a system can be down after a failure or disaster occurs before the company is negatively impacted by the downtime.
A recovery point objective (RPO) specifies a point in time that data must be recovered and backed up. The RPO determines the minimum frequency and at which intervals backups need to occur, whether every hour or every 5 minutes.
Disaster Recovery Solutions for Virtual and Physical Environments
There are number DR solutions that we can help you implement. When choosing the right solution you will need to identify the key components of your infrastructure that you want to protect which will help you choose the right level of protection based on your Recovery Time Objective and Recovery Point Objective.
1. VMware Site Recovery Manager
Scenario 1 - Existing On-Premise VMware users can utilise DRS for replication & failover to our existing VMware infrastructure as a Disaster Recovery site. Multiple sites can be recovered into one of our data centres.
Scenario 2 – Customers already using our hosted virtual infrastructure can have their environments replicated to one of secondary sites.
